Current Situation of Plastic Bag Waste in Vietnam
“In Vietnam, approximately 1.8 million tons of plastic waste are generated each year, including more than 30 billion plastic bags. On average, each household uses about 1 kg of plastic bags per month, with up to 80% being single-use and discarded after one use.Plastic waste accounts for 8–12% of total daily municipal solid waste, yet only 11–12% is properly treated. The rest is either landfilled, incinerated, or released into the environment.These figures highlight the severe pressure of plastic bag pollution, calling for urgent and collective action from both the community and businesses.”
